A rich and fruity 21-year-old Glenfarclas single malt bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange after 21 years in oloroso sherry seasoned oak. The result is aromas of cherries, blackcurrants and dates, mingling with shortbread, orange and earth on the nose. The palate offers notes of nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, mint chocolate, gingerbread and warm toast that linger in the finish.
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
NOSE
Rich and juicy – cherries and blackcurrants stewed down and stirred through chopped dates and plump raisins. Notes of spiced shortbread and fruity, sugar-dusted orange jellies develop along with a hint of pine needle and background of dunnage earthiness.
PALATE
Thick on the palate and packed with sweet spiced bread – nutmeg, gentle clove and cinnamon sugar. Notes of bitter barrel-char balance sweet raisin, blackcurrant and brown sugar as earthy and leafy notes build. Hints of mint chocolate, liquorice and gingerbread float over the top.
FINISH
Cinder toffee, singed caramel and fruit cake slowly fade.
COMMENT
Sweet and spicy with a core of fruitiness backed up by a well-aged earthiness.
