From Master of Malt
The latest batch (#15, no less) of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength demonstrates that the Islay distillery is no danger of running out of peaty powerhouses for us to enjoy. This has all the smoky, medicinal, and sweet notes you've come to expect and at 56.5% ABV, those flavours don't exactly hide.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Thick waves of iodine peat smoke followed by candied fruit and toffee.
Palate: Rich, earthy, and spicy heaps of clove, cardamom, and chilli. Then, salted caramel, blackcurrant, and a hint of liquorice.
Finish: Huge and drying
Whisky Resource Note:
The Laphroaig Website currently has the Batch 12, not mention of subsequent batches.
Once again there is no mention of Chill Filtration or colour on the bottle or tube, the Laphroaig Website for the batch 12 makes no mention.
A recent review by Ralfy suggests that the Cask Strength is chill filtered.
