Inaugural Release

The Falkirk Distillery Unveils its Inaugural Release: A Triumph of Craftsmanship and Steely Determination.

Thanks to the tenacity of one man and his dream, Falkirk Distillery is delighted to announce the highly anticipated launch of its inaugural release, a momentous milestone in the heart of Scotland’s industrial heritage.

 A Celebration of Place:

Nestled amidst the historic surroundings of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Falkirk Distillery proudly presents its first-ever release, a testament to the unwavering determination and dedication to tradition of its Founder. Independently built and family-owned, the distillery stands as an embodiment of the dream nurtured by its visionary founder, George Stewart, alongside his daughter, Fiona Stewart.

 A Distinctive Character:

This inaugural release is a celebration of Falkirk Distillery's commitment to quality and heritage, meticulously distilled using traditional Speyside stills and a 4.6-tonne copper mash tun. These Speyside copper stills bring a unique character to the whisky, marrying the charm of Speyside stills with that of the purest lowland spring water.

“Falkirk Distillery benefits hugely from employing the mashing and distillation equipment from the former Caperdonich Distillery - thus ensuring a high quality Speyside-style spirit in the Central Belt of Scotland. A unique achievement of quality and sustainability!”Alan Rutherford, OBE

 Heritage in Every Sip:

The Falkirk Distillery's inaugural release pays homage to the town's rich industrial heritage. The label and packaging design intricately reflect Falkirk's industrial prowess, weaving a narrative that tells the inspiring story of George and Fiona Stewart, instrumental in realising the family's dream. "Where heritage unwinds, tradition finds, in every sip that binds.”

Crafted from Nature's Bounty:

At the heart of the Falkirk Distillery is its water source, a well drawn from a 240-foot-deep borehole. The geological phenomenon of an artesian glacial aquifer was found using the skill set of a diviner. The pure spring water, together with Scottish malted barley, provides a heavenly combination that allows the stills to impart their unique character, offering a taste of Falkirk's natural splendour in every sip.

 Quotes from the Founders:

Founder George Stewart: ‘I often wondered if it was a dream or a dram too many, but now I can say the dream of a dram has now been realized.

Fiona Stewart, Co-founder and daughter of George, added, ‘To say that I am proud of what we have achieved is an understatement; this has been a Herculean task.

A Toast to Falkirk's Whisky Heritage:

This stunningly golden unpeated malt whisky has been aged for 3 years and 1 day in our traditional dunnage-style warehouse. Our first release of whisky has come from a marriage of 2 beautiful first-fill bourbon casks filled from our first run of new make spirit on the 2nd September 2020.

Tasting Notes:

This relatively young single malt is remarkable. Youthful, doughy breadiness on the nose and an attractive general freshness. Very approachable without water. Good long fruitiness into the finish, straightforward, and honest. With water, a welcome warmth comes through. Somewhat counterintuitive but not uncommon.

Limited Edition Release:

It has been a long and patient wait, but now all of the team here at Falkirk Whisky Distillery are thrilled to be instrumental in bringing whisky back to Falkirk by releasing this limited edition of 640 bottles to you. Bottled at 52% ABV, non-chill filtered, and free from artificial colouring, each bottle is presented in a bespoke gift box and individually numbered, making your bottle totally unique.
