Our Review
If you are new to whisky and want to look at beginner level whiskies, those that are between 40%-43% abv, no smoke or peat influence and very much an easy sippable whisky, then go to the search option at the top right of this page, in the search box you can enter Beginner/intermediate/advanced to review whiskies in each class.
Glenfiddich is bottled in a very distintive triangular shaped bottle, similar in style to the Grants Blended whisky, both brands owned by William Grants and Son.
Glendfiddich is bottled at 40% abv, is chill filtered and has added colour, for batch consistency perposes. The 12 year is available in several bottles sizes, the list is below the Youtube video at the bottom of the page. It has an average retail price of £32.58 which gives it a value score of 84.39/100.
It is both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry cask matured, this give it on the nose, a sweet fruity note of Apple and Pear, it is very inviting with it honey and vanilla.
On the palate it is sweet, possibly one of the sweeter malts available, there is definite Apple and Pear once again, a creamy vanilla that offers up butterscotch and on the finish its a drying oak. Its a great consistent whisky, possibly one of the best beginner level easy drinking malts available and very much worth the price.
For an overall score we give it 87/100, this is bottle that we will always have available.
