Master of Malt Exclusive (link)
An extra special single malt from the young Lowlands-based Lochlea distillery – bottled up exclusively for Master of Malt! The distillery was commissioned in 2018 and this whisky was distilled in its first year of operation, and filled into a first-fill bourbon barrel in March 2019. A total of 242 bottles were drawn from the cask in 2023, without added colour or chill filtration, and at a robust cask strength of 60.2% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose: Enticing toffee on the nose initially, giving way to orchard fruits.
Palate: Notes of red apple skins and pear drops follow on the palate, alongside freshly cut grass.
Finish: Signature Lochlea malt and cereal notes, like walking past a bakery in the morning.
