Filey Bay Double Oak Batch 2 Single Malt Whisky

The Next Step.

The next step of our Double Oak Special Release series, Filey Bay Double Oak #2 marries together our two distillate styles and is matured in a unique combination of select ex-Bourbon and Virgin Oak casks.

Double Oak #1 was awarded a coveted World Whisky Master in 2022; we’re extremely excited to share this next release with you.

Making the Cut.

The virgin oak brings fruity and spicy notes, whilst the ex-bourbon casks balance this with vanilla and toffee flavours. The selection process started with our Whisky Director Joe Clark sampling a cross-section of 100 first-fill ex-bourbon casks. A handful of these were re-racked at 50% into Virgin Oak casks, and regularly nosed and tasted for 13 months.

Tasting Notes:

Toasted Oak
Cream Soda
Fruit Gums
Hot Cross Buns

Notes from the Whisky Exchange (link)

The second batch of Filey Bay Double Oak special-release single malt from Spirit of Yorkshire distillery was aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks. The result is a fruity and spicy English single malt that displays flavours of cream soda, banana bread, pineapple sweets and toasted oak — ready for the picking.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt (link)

Nose Floral malt, buttered tea cakes, and clotted cream, with banana fritters and drizzles of toffee.

Palate Soft and creamy layers of oaken vanilla and buttery barley support sweet, tropical dried fruits while cinnamon and toasted oak develop beneath.

Finish A mellow finish with more vanilla cream, cough drops, and juicy stone fruits.
