Filey Bay Peated Batch 3 Single Malt Whisky

First released in 2021, Batch #1 of this special single malt was our fastest selling finished whisky ever and Batch #2 won a highly coveted World Whisky Master. Batch #3 has big shoes to fill and it does just that – soft and subtle, with caramel and coastal notes, it’s a Peated whisky for every palate.

West Coast to East Coast

Primarily matured in first-fill bourbon casks laid down in the winter of 2018 before a secondary maturation in peated casks, this single malt brings the west coast of Scotland here to the east coast of Yorkshire.

How smoky is this release? Subtle and softly smoky, full of coastal character with a hint of citrus.

Notes from the Whisky Exchange (link)

This limited-release from the Spirit of Yorkshire distillery was finished in ex-Islay whisky casks, which give a lightly peated, coastal influence in the glass. You’ll find a sweet malty aroma and notes of lemon shortbread, orchard fruit and grassy peat smoke.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt (link)

Nose Caramel, toasted almonds, and lemon drizzle cake support waves of elegant peat smoke.

Palate Apples and plums lead, with floral malt, roasted nuts, and sweet baking spices, while whispers of coastal peat murmur beneath.

Finish A touch of pepper, smoked oak, lemon balm, and runny caramel.
